Policy Notes & Opinions
An important role of the Commission is to sensitise the government and regulatory bodies to the competition issues. This is done by issuing advice through policy notes. The advice has to be pre-emptive and preventive to ensure that potential impacts on competition can be identified in advance before the impact is costly and irreversible. Advice of this nature takes a form of a review of draft laws, regulations, government programs, policies, decisions, actions as well as comment on implementation record of government, regulators and other public authorities which impact the issues pertaining to competition in the economy. Where appropriate, the advice given by the commission is publicized. The Commission has sent policy notes to government on important and pertinent matters where competition issues could be observed.
